NAA 1950 Chifley citizenship convention
Integration and assimilation of new arrivals was seen as an imperative by both the Labor Opposition and Liberal Government. To tackle the policy challenges of this need, Citizenship Conventions were held in the 1950s and 1960s. Chifley is photographed here entering the first of these conventions which he opened in 1950.
